OCT Testing
Here we share more about OCT testing and why you need it. You often hear the term OCT mentioned as part of your comprehensive eye exam, but what exactly is an OCT?

What is an OCT?
An OCT stands for Optical Coherence Tomography. It is a quick and non-invasive imaging technology that allows us to view a cross section of the retina, the inner structure of the eye.
The technology is similar to an ultrasound, but it uses light waves instead of sound. Using the OCT, we are able to send the light waves into the eye which then reflect off the different layers of the retina. This gives us the ability to view the cross section of the retina in a non-invasive way.

The OCT can be used to detect, diagnose, and monitor various eye conditions, including:

-
Glaucoma
-
Macular Degeneration
-
Diabetic Retinopathy
Our Eye Test
All our comprehensive eye tests include OCT imaging of both the optic nerve and macula. We believe that having these diagnostic scans gives us more in-depth details about your eyes and your vision. By utilising OCT, we can detect potential issues early and refer you for prompt treatment to maintain your vision and eye health.
